Walking from below

Exposition

We’ve come together to send you a message. It’s okay to feel your emotions — they’re yours. Colectivo Americana and CADE (Clinic for Anxiety, Depression, and Stress) partner with Vía Libertad, an open space for promoting and developing sustainable projects. This time, we’re here to raise awareness about emotional health and to remind you that you’re not alone. There are ways to feel better. There are ways to give your feelings a place.

We invite the community to take part in our activities and workshops, connecting diverse projects for your benefit.

The funds raised were used to support accessible therapy for people in vulnerable situations, as well as the development of future community projects focused on emotional health and artistic expression.

I’m here. And yes, I’m depressed.

Americanos

“Walking from Below (Caminando desde Abajo)” was more than a series of events. It was a call to recognize ourselves as fragile, human — and powerful when we express collectively. It marked the beginning of a new line of work at Colectiva Americana, where art, mental health, and community activism intertwine to spark change.

A multi-phase project combining art, emotional well-being, and community engagement. Si deseas un tono más cálido o poético, también puedo ofrecer una versión alternativa.

Phase 1

Hearing the Pain

We began with talks, conferences, and happenings in public spaces to shed light on topics like depression and anxiety. We opened a space where expressing emotions stopped being taboo and became a collective act of courage.

Phase 2

Feel and Share

Through workshops and therapeutic sessions, we invited the community to connect with their emotions, understand them, and give them a name. This phase involved providing support, active listening, and tools for emotional well-being.

Phase 3

Transforming Through Art

The project culminated in an art auction featuring works that embodied emptiness, fragility, and hope. It was a way to transform pain into expression—and expression into action. Art became a bridge between the intimate and the collective.
